The valuation of emotional competences

The valuation of emotional competences

In the last few decades, many people have been able to improve their technical and emotional skills thanks to Coaching and Mentoring methods. What was once seen as some kind of magic or control, was soon elucidated as a process that brings together techniques to increase professional performance coupled with improved quality of life.

To improve self-confidence, in addition to mental preparation and realignment of priorities, it is necessary to practice the actions that form and consolidate habits that promote good results. Ancient ideas of Aristotle were added to the modern techniques to develop the professional competences, that previously were not even observed or valued. Today, many know that technical skills are just the tip of the iceberg. The rest of the iceberg is composed of emotional intelligence.

Few suspected that most piloted with undeniable conviction their own Titanic, without paying attention to the fact that icebergs are deep glaciers and only its top is visible. Thus, generations of professionals followed happy and convinced about their indestructible ship. With the valorization of emotional competences, came theories to improve self-esteem and self-confidence, bringing everything about self-knowledge, self-image and everything that relates to self-motivation, whether individual or aggregated to material extensions, such as ostentation of fashion products. The truth is very objective: if you do not know yourself, you will hardly establish alliances that add to both sides, because it will be very difficult to understand the needs of people. Not knowing their own role in relationship contexts can lead to risks such as pointing people to blame rather than enhancing cooperation.

You have to have courage and value yourself, but without any discretion, the greatest efforts can result in excessive collection and frustration. In order to avoid this waste of goodwill, commitment and tensions in the interpersonal relationship, it is recommended to seriously evaluate the role played in the group and the network of relationships, observing the degree of dependence and influence of each one. Thus, relationships will be much healthier and more productive, with better results.
